Akki( Meaning rice in kannada) roti is a specialty of Karnataka and kerala. This particular recipe is more prevalent in Karnataka and the plain akki roti is more common to kerala and Karnataka. Though not traditional, adding a 2 tbsp of grated ginger and coarsely grinding the cumin or jeera seeds brings in a sort of flavor to every bite, especially for people who love ginger root.
