In this recipe the tadka is done and then the rice and moong dal are cooked in a pressure cooker. It can be done the other way too by doing the tadka in a wide pan and mixing the pressure cooked rice with it. Finely cut ginger and green chillies can also be added while doing the taka. Serve hot pongal with coconut chutney and sambar.
